Working Principle

Tantalum capacitors work on the same principle as other types of capacitors. They consist of two or more conductive plates separated by a thin insulating material known as a dielectric. When a voltage is applied across the plates, an electric field is generated which causes electrons to be attracted to the positive plate and repelled from the negative plate. These electrons create a charge on the capacitor\'s plates. The amount of charge, or capacitance, is determined by the size and shape of the plates and the dielectric material used.

The M39003/01-6016 capacitor uses a tantalum anode and a manganese dioxide cathode as its conductive components. The anode and cathode are separated by an oxide dielectric layer which is deposited onto the anode using an ion beam deposition process. This dielectric layer is resistant to dielectric breakdown, making the M39003/01-6016 a reliable and stable component. The tantalum anode further contributes to the capacitor\'s stability by offering a low temperature coefficient and higher ripple current rating than other types of capacitors.
