Tantalum Capacitors

Tantalum capacitors are a type of electrolytic capacitor which consist of a capacitive element as well as an anode, a cathode and a liquid electrolyte solution. They use the electrolyte solution to bridge the gap between the two plates of the device. The anode is made out of a tantalum pentoxide layer, the cathode is made out of powdered tantalum and the electrolytic solution is a mixture of potassium hydroxide and water.
