Tantalum capacitors are a type of electrolytic capacitor consisting of activated levels of elemental tantalum metal sandwiched between two dielectric material layers. A metal layer conducts electricity while the dielectric material, usually an oxide layer, electrically insulates and prevents conductive pathways between the metal layers. One of the metal layers is also an annular electrolytic layer, which carries an anodic current, allowing for efficient storage and release of electrical energy. This type of capacitor is used in various applications, including high-frequency oscillators, radio frequency power amplifiers, digital signal processing and analog-to-digital conversion. M39003/01-8155H tantalum capacitors are designed for use in ultra-high-end consumer electronics, for such applications as mobile phones, digital cameras and laptop computers, as well as for military and aerospace applications.
