Working Principle
The working principle of M39003/03-0347/TR Tantalum Capacitors is similar to that of aluminum electrolytic capacitors, except that the dielectric layer of tantalum capacitors is formed in arcs on the surface of the amalgamated tantalum powder. The inner and outer electrodes of a tantalum capacitor are anode and cathode respectively. When AC current is added to the capacitor, a polarization phenomenon will occur in the interface of the anode and tantalum pentoxide dielectric layer. Under the polarization effect, an electric field of anode polarization will be formed, which allows only the negative ions of the opposite polarity plate to pass through the dielectric layer and form a capacitance.
The main feature of M39003/03-0347/TR Tantalum Capacitors is its low equivalent series inductance (ESL), which enables it to maintain stable impedance with frequency up to several GHz. Furthermore, compared with other electrolytic capacitors, tantalum capacitors have higher capacitance and load electromotive force (EMF).
