Thyristors, an important type of semiconductor components, are devices based on the current and voltage dependent control characteristics of four-layer, three-terminal devices. TRIACs are the acronym for "Triode for Alternate Current" and are a three-terminal, four-layer device. The MAC15A10 TRIAC is a popular device used in a variety of applications.
The MAC15A10 is more typically used in AC (alternating current) applications where it can act as a switch or as a regulator and is suitable for general purpose switching and phase control applications.
