The MAX5060ATI-T is a DC DC switching controller designed by Maxim Integrated specifically for high-performance, low-cost, low-ripple voltage regulation. General Description

The MAX5060ATI-T DC DC switching controller from Maxim Integrated employs current-mode control, an internal charge-pump supply, and low-side switch to provide a wide range of output voltage levels with low-ripple voltage regulation. The device offers a fast transient response and a wide input voltage range (1.24V to 75V). Its operating mode can be programmed to step-up, step-down, buck-boost, or inverting to accommodate various designs.The MAX5060ATI-T also features an internal soft-start to provide a controlled ramp up of the output voltage and limit inrush currents. The device also offers over-voltage and under-voltage protection to prevent V out from exceeding the desired range. This feature offers enhanced protection for the device in the event of undershoots, overshoots, or output short-circuits. Working Principle

The MAX5060ATI-T employs a current-mode control architecture and low-side switch to provide a wide range of output levels with low-ripple voltage regulation. The MAX5060ATI-T operates by comparing the voltage on the VFB pin to the voltage at the RT pin. This deviation, known as the error signal, is then fed back to the device’s current-sensing circuit, which adjusts the switch duty cycle accordingly. This results in the device constantly adjusting the output level to maintain regulation. In order to ensure a low-ripple output, an internal charge-pump is used to supply internally created voltages up to +18V and -18V for higher conversion ratios. The device also features an internal soft-start to provide a controlled ramp up of the output voltage and limit inrush currents.In addition to current-mode control and internal charge-pump, the MAX5060ATI-T also features over-voltage and under-voltage protection to prevent V out from exceeding the desired range.
