MIC5255-3.2YM5-TR is an integrated power management IC (PMIC) that provides a very low dropout linear regulator designed to provide an output voltage of 3.2 V. Application Field

Working Principle

The MIC5255-3.2YM5-TR is a low dropout voltage linear regulator. It works by pulling, or pushing, the right amount of current into, or out of, the output line in relation to the input voltage. In doing so, the output voltage remains at a constant, preset level. The MIC5255-3.2YM5-TR, specifically, incorporates a fixed voltage regulator that provides a stable and accurate output of 3.2 V with a minimum dropout voltage of 237 mV at a full load of 800 mA, or from a 0.8 V input voltage.

The device contains an integrated P-channel MOSFET for current regulation, enabling it to reduce the number of external components needed for a stable and efficient design. The regulator also has overload protection, ensuring that over-voltage, current-limit, and short circuit conditions are correctly managed, protecting the end application from potential damage.

The MIC5255-3.2YM5-TR is Logical Sequencing Control at Power Up/Down and Operating Frequency & Ripple Reduction – is enabled through the integrated power switch, allowing for low noise and improved ripple reduction. This feature is designed to allow a smooth power-up of the system, reducing the amount of current surges and enabling a streamlined power-down routine as needed. Additionally, the thermal warning and shutdown circuitry within the device protect against thermal overload conditions of the output.
