MIC5313-F6YMT-TR is a high-performance voltage regulator with enhanced load transient response, suitable for applications including CPU core voltage and DDR memory power supplies. It\'s one of the various products under the MIC5313 family of ultra-low dropout (LDO) linear regulators from Microchip Technology.
The MIC5313 family of voltage regulators is well-suited for applications which supplies require extremely low quiescent current operation (<0.3 μA), superior load transient response and very low dropout voltage. These devices come in 3.3V, 5V and adjustable voltage versions, and feature both shutdown and low power standby modes.
The MIC5313-F6YMT-TR is based on a proprietary ultra-low dropout control scheme which provides a very low dropout voltage over a broad range of operating conditions. This ensures low ground current and very efficient power conversion. With its fast push-pull transient response, it is suitable for powering processors, memory and other high transient-load applications.
The MIC5313-F6YMT-TR features a low-dropout voltage of 0.3 V at 250 mA, 0.45 V at 100 mA, and 0.6 V at 50 mA. It has an output voltage accuracy of ±2% and a quiescent current of 0.3 μA maximum at no load. The device is also capable of delivering up to 1 A of continuous output current.
The MIC5313-F6YMT-TR has a wide input voltage range from 0.8 V to 5.5 V and an adjustable output voltage range from 0.8 V to 5.5 V. It uses Pulse-Skipping TM Conversion technology to reduce high frequency switching noise, and achieves an output ripple of 10 mVrms at 250 mA, with bypass capacitors of only 0.1 μF. The device also features internal short circuit protection, current limit and thermal shutdown.

The working principle of the MIC5313-F6YMT-TR is based on a proprietary ultra-low dropout control scheme. It uses a combination of Pulse-SkippingTM conversion technology, a hysteretic current limiter, and a linear error amplifier. The hysteretic current limiter monitors the current in the device, and turns the device off at the onset of overload or short circuit condition. The linear error amplifier measures the output voltage, and provides a reference voltage to the pulse-skipping converter, in order to maintain regulation.
