The NE662M04-EVIP09 is a RF evaluation and development kit specifically well-suited to designing, testing, and implementing advanced 802.11ac Wi-Fi solutions. It consists of a transceiver evaluation board with a full suite of reference design schematics, scripts, source code, design guidelines, and a wide range of development software, including drivers and programming tools. Additionally, the kit comes bundled with different Daughter/Adapter Boards that support evaluation and characterization over different frequency ranges.
The NE662M04 is designed to follow the latest industry standards and contains a high-performance transmitter and a low-noise, high-receiver sensitivity receive path in an advanced GaAs based transceiver IC. The transmitter can be driven directly by direct digital synthesizer (DDS) or VCO plus dividers and the receiver provides an easy-to-implement yet sophisticated set of features for digital image and IF rejection. The radio supports 802.11ac up to 867 Mbps rates, and is specified from 2420 to 2480 MHz.
The NE662M04-EVIP09 kit is designed such that users have access to the configuration and/or logic signals, and this flexibility allows for easy experimentation and design iterations. It contains a base board, a Daughter/Adapter Board, a matching board, and an optional remote control board. The base board contains most of the analog components such as amplifiers, mixers, filters, cleaners, LNA’s, and a power amplifier, while also providing connections for power, RF in and out, and the daughter/adapter board. The Daughter/Adapter Board hosts the transceiver IC and provides connections for the matching board, enabling rapid prototyping of the RF evaluation.
The matching board provides all the necessary connectors and components for setting up the variable matching circuits, allowing access to all the signals of the transceiver IC, including RF in and out, antenna diversity control signals, digital baseband, timing, synthesizer control signals, GPIO lines, and supply. Furthermore, this board also includes the master/slave controller and a LCD display for monitoring system settings. The kit also contains an optional remote control board, which is used for remote communication and control, as well as diagnostics. The remote control board utilizes a Bluetooth radio to perform the communication link and operation of the board.
