The NM93C06EM8 is a component of the Family of EEPROM, embodied on a 8-pin dip package and a 8-pin SOIC package, they are CMOS memory device that uses an 8-bit wide information bus. Application Field
NM93C06EM8 is a EEPROM (electrically erasable and programmable) memory device that contains very low power and low voltage design. The application field of this device contains low cost and low power products, for example as Remote Controller, Automotive Systems, Industrial Safety Equipment, and Radio or TV Receivers. This device offers flexible memory protection options, which makes it ideal for cost-sensitive and security-sensitive applications.
Working Principle
The NM93C06EM8 device is a high-performance EEPROM, the architecture of this device has an 8-bit wide data bus. The device also supports five different protection modes, the protection codes are stored on a non-volatile register called configuration register. The Internal data register will contain the actual data that is readable, the data that are written can be accessed and updated routinely.
The NM93C06EM8 device also consists of a serial bus and programming logic circuit. These two primary components are used to connect any external device such as an external microprocessor. The programming logic is responsible for the commands and sequences of write/erase operations, while the serial bus is used to provide two-way communication between the device and the external microprocessor.
The device is write, verify and erase protected. This makes it easy to protect the data that is stored in the device, because all the write sequences will be initiated only with the right access code and right command byte. The write and verify commands will also initiate in a fixed address and with a fixed amount of data.
To finish a write or erase operation properly the device must go through a write and/or erase verification, EEPROM device provides three outcomes during the verification process, if the data in the device is the same with the write data, the device will return “verified”; if the data in the device is not the same with the write data, the device will return “not verified”; if the data in the device can not be read, the device will return “no response”.
The NM93C06EM8 also has a sleep mode feature which can reduce power consumption drastically and to save battery life. This device requires a low voltage to make sure the data will not be erased. Once the device enters a sleep mode, the write and erase are disabled until the device gets the right command to awaken.
