It is also known as a voltage-dependent resistor (VDR) or suppressor, and is widely used in the electronics industry.The SA11AHB0G diode is an unidirectional diode that is designed to work as a protection device in both AC (alternative current) and DC (direct current) circuits. It is specifically designed for applications where voltage spikes, surges, or transients are expected, and it works by limiting the amount of overvoltage that can enter the circuit.The device has an ASTM AISI 304 stainless steel housing, with a nickel plated copper base. It has high peak current ratings as well as low on-state voltage drop, making it suitable for both high and low voltage applications. It has a maximum peak pulse power of 1.9 kW, a maximum on-state voltage drop of 1.1 V and a pulse stand-off voltage of 11 V (clamping) with a working voltage range of 3.5 – 20 V.The device is usually used in applications such as in automotive systems, power supplies, peripheral equipments, instrumentations, LED driver circuits, telecom systems, medical equipments, security systems, motor control systems, industrial equipment, and other electronic circuits. When the input voltage is below the specified working voltage range, the diode is in its forward direction and operates in a low-loss conduction mode. When the input voltage exceeds the specified maximum voltage, the voltage across the diode is limited, thus preventing the voltage from increasing further and protecting the circuit.The diode is also equipped with a thermal resistance junction to ambient which ensures that it operates at an optimum temperature range. This ensures that it maintains its reliability, and lacks in any form of overheating or short-circuiting. The SA11AHB0G diode is also equipped with an acceleration diode which senses the rate of change of voltage and helps in selecting an appropriate protection factor. This helps in providing an improved protection from voltage surges and transients, and ensures that the device operates reliably. The SA11AHB0G diode is UL approved and has the capability to pass up to 1,000 VAC impulse tests. It is highly reliable due to its narrow and low VF (Voltage Forward) characteristics. It can also provide excellent clamping protection and dynamic response.
