SA11CAHR0G is a TVS - Diodes type device, also known as transil or Transient Voltage Suppressor. It is designed to protect various devices from overvoltage transients. The SA11CAHR0G can safely absorb repetitive surge current up to 400 Amps both in AC and DC modes with no damage to the device. This puts the device ahead of conventional Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) or high surge current diode arrays which are limited to lower surge current levels and shorter pulse duration.

The SA11CAHR0G is available in three different packages: 6-lead, 8-lead, and 10-lead packages with an external connection for easy installation. The device is also available with and without an integrated reverse protection diode for additional protection against shorts. The integrated diode allows the device to be placed in series with a circuit for reverse voltage clamping.

TVS - Diodes differ from conventional diodes and MOVs because of their ability to absorb much higher surge currents and dissipate the excess voltage without damaging the underlying circuit. The TVS - Diodes are capable of clamping the voltage level to an acceptable level in much shorter pulse durations than MOVs or standard rectifier diodes. This is accomplished by having a higher clamping voltage, and faster response time than the typical rectifier diode. The faster clamping response allows it to protect sensitive electronic components from the deformative affects of transients.

The SA11CAHR0G is useful in several applications such as industrial and medical equipment, automotive, telecommunications and many other fields. The device can provide protection against transients such as lightning strikes, power surges, and potentially destructive ESD (electrostatic discharge) events. It can also provide protection against overvoltage transients in sensitive signal lines.
