Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are one of the most common types of capacitors used in electrical and electronics devices. TE1308 aluminum electrolytic capacitors are optimized to deliver long life and reliable performance in quality control applications. This type of capacitor is designed to be used in circuits that require low external equivalent series resistance (ESR) and good electrical stability. Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are commonly used in power supplies, mains voltage regulation circuits, voltage converters or inverters, and switching power supplies.

The construction of a TE1308 aluminum electrolytic capacitor is a two-piece component: a hermetically sealed aluminum canister and a dielectric sealed axial lead winding. The interior of the canister is filled with liquid electrolyte which provides a low resistive path between the capacitor terminals. A number of etched aluminum foils are positioned and rolled up into a cylindrical form, forming the anode of the capacitor. A paper wrapping filled with a special electrolyte forms the cathode of the capacitor. The high resistive, low-loss paper acts as a separator between the anode and the cathode.

When the capacitor is exposed to an electrical field, a flow of electrons passes from the positive terminal to the negative terminal – the principle of storing electrical energy. As this electron flow increases, the capacitance of the aluminum electrolytic capacitor drops and the internal resistance increases. This is known as the capacitance-ESR curve, and is an extremely important factor when selecting aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

TE1308 aluminum electrolytic capacitors are designed to offer excellent performance and to operate in harsh electrical environments. They are typically used in applications where there is a need for a high capacitance and low ESR. Examples of such applications include audio frequency filtering, power supplies, low dropout regulators, and AC/DC converters.

TE1308 aluminum electrolytic capacitors are also designed to be extremely reliable in operation. This is possible because they feature a two-piece design that prevents short circuiting or spark-over on the terminals. Additionally, the canister features an hermetic seal which protects the capacitor from moisture or other environmental contaminants.
