Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors, like all capacitors, store electric energy in an electric field when connected to a voltage source such as a battery. However, unlike other capacitors, they are more specifically designed for use in high-voltage, high-current applications due to their special construction and unique material properties. TE1408 is one of the most widely used aluminum electrolytic capacitors - a type of capacitor made from a "sandwich" of two aluminum plates held together with a gel-like electrolyte. The dielectric between the two plates is formed by a very thin layer of an oxide created by an electrolytic process.
