The TNY253G-TL is a cost-effective, performance-driven power management integrated circuit (PMIC). It is designed to serve as the central point in a system\'s power management. With a wide range of features and setting capabilities, the TNY253G-TL can deliver clean, reliable power to a variety of different components and applications. This PMIC is a member of Power Integrations\' cost-effective TopSwitch family of off-line switchers, bridge rectifiers, and AC/DC converters.
The TNY253G-TL\'s application field includes standalone offline power supplies, buck DC/DC and linear converters, AC/DC power supplies, and switch ICs. The TNY253G-TL can also be used in commercial and industrial off-line products such as light dimmers, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and distributed power systems. In addition to these applications, the TNY253G-TL can also be used in large-scale renewable energy projects.
Features of the TNY253G-TL include a quiescent current of less than 200 mA, 300 kHz minimum switching frequency, additional system flexibility, and secure output power. The TNY253G-TL has ultra-low start-up current with max input voltage of up to 100 V. This PMIC also provides extra protection to the output side, with a temperature monitoring capability, overload protection, and short circuit protection.
The TNY253G-TL is unique among other AC/DC offline switchers, in that it has a built-in high-frequency resonant half-bridge (HF-RB) topology. This topology combines the leading and trailing edges of the output rectifiers, creating a lossless transition between the two phases of the alternating current (AC) source, resulting in higher efficiency and performance. With this HB topology, the TNY253G-TL reduces power losses across the output devices and capacitances resulting in higher total system efficiency and visibility into the switching waveform of the power supply.
The TNY253G-TL also has an advanced current sense and limiting circuit to precisely regulate and ensure stable power delivery while providing low-noise output. This PMIC also has a unique input over-voltage protection (OVP) circuit and an input under-voltage lockout circuit. These two circuits help to prevent any accidental operation or damage to the circuit due to input voltage spikes or drops. This PMIC also includes an internal soft start circuit that reduces inrush current during startup and limits output current in the event of an overload situation.
The TNY253G-TL is capable of providing a high degree of flexibility when it comes to system configuration and setting capabilities. This PMIC can be programmed with a wide range of parameters such as power supply current limit, frequency, peak current limit, etc. The TNY253G-TL is also designed with an internal oscillator circuit and an external clock signal input port. This allows the user to program the oscillator frequency from 30kHz to 300kHz.
