TNY285DG-TL adopts a one-stage zero-voltage (ZVS) flyback switching architecture. It includes features such as frequency modulator, secondary peak current control, programmable over-voltage protection and frequency-adjusting over temperature protection. The internal high-frequency operating frequency enables the chip to achieve high efficiency even with a small transformer and low-cost components in the BOM.
The working principle of the TNY285DG-TL begins when the switch turns on, the chip pulls the primary current from zero to Ip/N, N is the turns ratio of the transformer. The charge on the transformer increases. When the primary current reaches to Ip/N, the switch turns off and the fly-back process completes. Then current rectifies and charges the output capacitor. The switch turns on again, and the process repeats.
This chip uses an advanced Frequency Modulation Control to optimize over-current protection and reduce losses to maximize efficiency. It also provides an over-voltage protection, an output over-voltage protection, and a frequency-adjusting over temperature protection. The chip operates over a wide output voltages range, from 1.25V to 260V, and it supports an input voltage range from 85V to 305V AC.
