TOP203YN is an integrated offline switcher suitable for AC/DC power applications. It is a complete, self-contained power solution with built-in MOSFET and other power components required to produce an electrical output. It provides efficient, reliable, and cost effective high power conversion solutions.The main features of TOP203YN includes wide output voltage range, high efficiency, high accuracy, low ripple, low standby current and high temperature protection. These features make TOP203YN ideal for low cost applications in consumer electronics, appliances, industrial, automotive and medical systems.TOP203YN is a step-down power converter with a wide input voltage range from 80-315Vac. It provides an output voltage range from 8V-18Vdc with a maximum output current up to 3A. It provides high efficiency up to 87% and high accuracy of +/- 0.5% on the output voltage. The device also features low standby power consumption, Temperature compensated Current Mode Control (ASIC) for constant output voltage and current limiting. In addition, the device offers built-in soft start, power good indicator and comprehensive protection features including overvoltage, over current, temperature, and short circuit protection. It also provides an enable/disable input and output enable/disable control. The device is fully isolated with an output voltage of 3.3V or higher. The device is encapsulated in RoHS compliant plastic package with maximum junction temperature up to 110°C. The working principle of TOP203YN is that it combines an AC/DC power stage with an internal offline PWM controller. The PWM controller internally regulates output voltage from AC/DC power stage by measuring output voltage via opto-coupler LED. The basic PWM controller uses a Current Mode Control (CMC) architecture which allows fast and accurate setting of the desired output voltage. This architecture provides stability and precise control in a wide range of load conditions.TOP203YN also provides a complete set of protections including OVP, OCP, SCP, and temperature protection through its temperature compensated control loop. The device is current mode based, so the output voltage will remain stable and independent of the load.
