A primary function of a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) is to regulate, control and monitor the power supply of an electronic device. Additionally, the TOP210GN also features loop compensation, short circuit protection, overshoot and overvoltage protection and auto-restart after a fault. It also has an output voltage trimming range of 3.2 to 4.0V and a wide 4:1 input voltage range. The TOP210GN is built with a high-voltage power MOSFET, output voltage and current sensing circuits, a control circuit and a protection circuit. The integrated high-voltage MOSFET allows for the conversion of AC mains to DC with less power dissipation, resulting in greater efficiency. The output voltage and current sensing circuits sense the output voltage and current levels and pass this information to the control circuit. The control circuit adjusts the output voltage based on the input voltage and the set output voltage to provide a stable and regulated output.

The protection circuit protects the TOP210GN from over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit conditions. In such cases, the protection circuit will limit the output voltage and/or current or shut off the output. This ensures the safety of the end device in the event of an over-current or over-voltage condition.
