TOP234GN is a member of the Power Integrations TOPSwitch product family. It is a high performance, cost effective and versatile AC/DC PWM controller, which can provide excellent performance for a variety of offline switchers and AC/DC converters applications. With the ability to detect and limit secondary side peak inrush current and it offers very low standby power and reduced electromagnetic interference (EMI). Working Principle

TOP234GN is a current mode PWM controller that features advanced cycle-by-cycle current limit, line feed-forward and Max Peak Current Limit (MPCL) technology. The MPCL limits the peak of both primary and secondary side current.

When operating in active burst mode, the controller switches to a low power standby mode when AC input is detected but there is no load. The controller monitors both the AC input voltage and the current draw at the output of the converter. When the current draw drops below the set point, the controller deactivates the load and switches to a low power standby mode.
