The TOP244FN, an advanced low-cost off-line switcher with a wide range of applications in AC-DC converters, adheres to the philosophy that both safety and performance are two important measures of success. The TOP244FN is an energy-saving offline power supply that combines the features of a power switching transistor, a driving circuit, an overcurrent protection circuit and a feedback control circuit. The TOP244FN consists of three main components: a power factor correction (PFC) boost converter, a pulse width modulation (PWM) control integrated circuit, and a low-frequency transformer.
The power factor correction (PFC) boost converter is a switched-mode converter with a boost inductor. It helps to extract a higher voltage at a given output current than a conventional linear power supply. The input voltage is rectified and filtered to provide an input DC voltage, usually in the range of 370-420V.
