TOP264EG is a high performance, monolithic, off line switching regulator controller that incorporates the latest power MOSFET technologies. It consists of an efficient MOSFET switch, a high voltage oscillator, an error amplifier circuit, a current sensing circuit, a temperature sensing circuit and an over temperature protection circuit. TOP264EG is ideal for Low and medium power offline applications such as AC/DC converters, LED drivers, UPS systems or adapter systems.

Working Principle

TOP264EG incorporates several circuits, each operating in harmony to provide exceptional performance and efficiency. When the power is first connected, the over temperature protection circuit begins to monitor the temperature of the device. Before the oscillator turns on, the current sensing circuit monitors the input current and the error amplifier sets a reference voltage for the switch to turn on. Once the current reaches the set level, the oscillator starts a PWM cycle that is constantly validated by the error amplifier. The MOSFET switch monitors the input voltage and switches on/off as per the PWM cycle, providing stable output voltage and current. When the input current exceeds the set level, the over temperature protection circuit turns off the switch until the temperature drops again.
