4. Function Description

Like the TOPSwitch-HX, the TOP264-271 are integrated switch-mode power ICs that control the switching current input to the high-voltage open-drain output duty-cycle power MOSFETs. During normal operation, the duty cycle of the power MOSFET decreases linearly as the CONTROL pin current increases. In addition to the three-terminal TOPSwitch features such as high voltage startup, cycle-by-cycle current limit, loop compensation circuit, auto-restart and thermal shutdown, the TOP264-271 integrates many additional features to reduce system cost, improve power supply performance and design flexibility sex. Patented high-voltage CMOS technology allows cost-effective integration of high-voltage power MOSFETs and all low-voltage control circuits into a single microcontroller. Three terminals, frequency, voltage monitoring and external current limit have been used to implement some new functions. These terminals can be connected to the SOURCE pin to operate the TOP264-271 in TOPSwitchlike three-terminal mode. However, even in these three termination modes, the TOP264-271 offers many transparent features that do not require any external components:

    1. A fully integrated 17 ms soft-start significantly reduces or Scanning eliminates output overshoot in most applications Current limit and frequency from low to high to limit Peak current and voltage during startup.

    2. 78% maximum duty cycle (DCMAX) allows smaller input storage capacitors, lower input voltage requirements and/or Higher power capability.

    3. Multi-mode operation optimizes power boost Provides efficiency over the entire load range while maintaining Good cross regulation in multi-output power supplies.

    4. 132 kHz switching frequency reduces transformer size No appreciable effect on EMI.

    5. Frequency jitter reduces EMI in full frequency mode high load conditions.

    6. Hysteretic over-temperature shutdown ensures thermal fault Protect.

    7. Omit pins and lead-molded packages to provide large Drain Creepage Distance.

    8. Auto restart duty cycle and frequency reduced to Improve power and load protection during Open loop fault, short circuit or loss of regulation.

    9. Tighter I2 tolerance f Power factor, current limit reduction, PWM gain and thermal shutdown threshold.

VOLTAGE-MONITOR (V) pin is typically used for line detection By connecting a 4 MW resistor from this pin to the rectified DC High Voltage Bus for Line Overvoltage (OV), Undervoltage (UV) and Dual Slope Line Feed Forward Using DCMAX reduce. In this mode, the value of the resistor determines OV/UV threshold and DCMAX with bilinear reduction slope to improve line ripple rejection.
