Working Principle

The UCC28061DR synchronizes the internal sawtooth oscillator to the input line voltage. The frequency of the sawtooth is proportional to the line voltage. The synchronization range is 300Vrms/230Vrms/115Vrms, covering both 85Vacrms to 265Vacrms and 90Vacrms to 130Vacrms. This sawtooth signal then serves as a reference for the pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal for power factor correction.

The UCC28061DR includes an integrated low dropout (LDO) linear regulator. This can be used to bias an external PFC pre-regulator when used in the single-ended topology, and serves as the start-up bias point for PFC in the flyback topology.
