The UCC28510N features a wide operating range of 180V AC - 264V AC, and an operating frequency range of 15 kHz to 500 kHz. It also includes a wide range of integrated protection features, such as open/short loop protection, over-voltage/over-current protection, pulse-by-pulse current limiting and thermal shutdown, providing greater reliability and minimum system external component cost. It also has a low power standby mode that can be used to reduce system power consumption during standby mode.Working Principle of UCC28510N
The UCC28510N operates using Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) to achieve power factor correction. PFM is a technique used to regulate power in an AC/DC system, that works by modulating the pulse width of the output over a fixed frequency range. This technique allows the UCC28510N to maintain voltage or current regulation throughout the full line input range, while still delivering low harmonic distortion and high efficiency.The PFM mode is enabled when the output current of the converter exceeds a certain set threshold level. The UCC28510N will reduce the switching frequency when the load current increases, and will reduce the output ripple and peak current in order to maintain a constant power output.
