Working Principle

The UCC35705DG4 device is based on the principle of pulse width modulation (PWM) control to deliver a regulated output voltage in order to meet the system needs. It contains an oscillator and comparator , along with an internal 9-bit DAC to set the output voltage level. The device also offers functions such as output tracking and phase-shift control, along with over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, and UVLO protection.

The UCC35705DG4 switches the output current at the switching node on and off in the form of pulses. The pulses are generated in response to the oscillator frequency and the output voltage is regulated by varying the duty cycle of the pulse width ( pulse-width modulation). When the duty cycle is raised, more power is supplied to the output, and vice versa for a lower circulation.

When the output reaches below a certain voltage level, the device will switch off the node and enter into an active skip or power-down mode. It will then re-activate the node when the output level reaches a certain voltage level.
