Working Principle

The UCC3808AD-2G4 is a current-mode Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) controller. The output of this PWM controller is modulated as a function of both the input voltage and the output current. In other words, the PWM control signal generated by this controller will reduce in frequency as the output current increases. This is known as current-mode control and is different from voltage-mode control which will keep the frequency constant regardless of changes in load. At the same time, the system can also be programmed with a voltage feedback loop which will adjust the output voltage as needed.
