1N3611E3 Application Field and Working Principle

1N3611E3 is a single phase silicon rectifier diode. It can be used for half-wave rectification or full-wave rectification in high frequency circuits, and general electronic equipment.It is suitable for different voltage levels of low-power single-phase AC power rectification. Working Principle

A silicon rectifier diode consists of a semiconductor block (p-type and n-type) and two electrodes. In operation, when there is a forward voltage applied to the diode, the diode is a closed loop and current flows through the diode. An electric field is created inside the diode and causes the conduction electrons to be drawn to the positive end of the diode, while forming a depletion layer between the p-type and n-type material. The current flow will increase as the applied voltage increases until the diode is saturated.

When the voltage applied is negative, the electric field will be in opposite direction, and the current flowing through the diode will also be blocked. The diode forms a reverse locking of the current and the current will not flow in the reverse direction. This blocking effect can be used to achieve rectification of the AC signal. As a result, the 1N3611E3 diode can be used for either half-wave or full-wave rectification. In half-wave rectification, one half of the cycle of the alternating current is blocked and only the other half is passed through the diode, thus obtaining a DC voltage. In full-wave rectification, both cycles of the alternating current are passed through the diode, thus obtaining a DC voltage.

Application Fields
