This is described by the diode equation: I_D = I_S * e^(V_D/V_T)Where I_D is the current through the diode, I_S is the saturation current, e is the natural logarithm, V_D is the voltage across the diode and V_T is the thermal voltage.The diode works in the forward conduction mode when the voltage across it is greater than the diode’s threshold voltage. In this mode, the current passes through the diode without any resistance. The reverse conduction mode is when the voltage across the diode is lower than the threshold voltage.
