Thyristors - TRIACs remain one of the most essential and widely used components in the industrial and consumer electronics market. The BTA04-700TRG Thyristor is the latest addition to the portfolio of popular Thyristors-TRIACs. It has a robust blocking capability and can support large, repetitively switched loads under high current and temperature conditions.
An ideal component for applications requiring high current and temperature switching is the BTA04-700TRG Thyristor. This component is designed to handle loads of up to 700 Amps, and is capable of withstanding temperatures of up to 125 degrees Celsius. It is therefore suitable for a range of requirements in the industrial and automotive markets, such as direct drive motor control, high power switching, and high power adjustable speed drives.
The BTA04-700TRG Thyristor is configured in a three-terminal structure, where a gate voltage can be applied to control the switching action. When the gate voltage is sufficiently low, the thyristor enters a blocking state and the load current is prevented from flowing across the device. The BTA04-700TRG Thyristor has an integrated short-circuit protection circuit which enables the device to continue functioning even in the case of an overload.
The working principle of the BTA04-700TRG Thyristor is based on the principle of avalanche breakdown. When the gate voltage is increased to above a certain threshold, an avalanche breakdown occurs, resulting in the charging of the device’s junction. This causes the thyristor to enter a conducting state and the load current can then flow through the device. The device can then remain in a conducting state even after the gate voltage is reduced. To turn off the device, a negative pulse should be applied to the gate in order to fully deplete the stored charge and turn off the thyristor.
