Working Principle

The DG212BDY-E3 has two control inputs and one signal output. The signal output is connected to one of the two inputs depending on the control input state. The device is typically used as a multiplexer or demultiplexer, depending on the configuration.When the two control inputs, S0 and S1, are both low (in the logic 0 state), the signal output is connected to the A input. When one of the control inputs is high and the other is low (one in logic 0 and the other in logic 1 state), the signal output is connected to the B input. Finally, when both control inputs are high (in the logic 1 state), the signal output is connected to the Z input. When the control inputs are in this state, the switch is in the “off” position and the signal can not pass through the switch.
