In order to achieve this, the ES1FL RVG bridge uses four diodes, one at each corner of the bridge. When a positive half cycle is applied to the ES1FL RVG, the diodes in positions P1 and N2 both conduct, allowing current to pass through the bridge. When a negative half cycle is applied, the diodes in positions P2 and N1 both conduct and the current is again allowed to pass through the bridge.

The output current is then a combination of both the positive and negative half cycles of the input current, and it ideally would have an output voltage that is as close to the input voltage as possible. The result is a highly efficient bridge rectifier with a minimum amount of power dissipation.
