The FAN7392N is a workhorse for Power ManagementIC (PMIC) Gate Drivers, which has versatile applications across industrial, commercial, and consumer applications. It offers an ideal solution for robust automatic voltage level control in single-phase or two-phase power delivery systems; or as an automated power supply for any type of DC motor or motor driver. Additionally, FAN7392N Gate Drivers can be used in LED systems, automotive starters, solar battery chargers, switched overvoltage and undervoltage protection circuit designs, and can be virtually suitable for any application requiring automated power management.
FAN7392N Gate Drivers incorporate a unique single-package high-side and low-side gate drive, which make them ideal in mixed signal and multi-frequency power-switching systems. The device contains a highly efficient synchronous rectifier and a low-side horizontal MOSFET gate driver. The integrated high-side gate drive features an integrated adjustable high-side gate drive with a maximum load current of 4A, and can sustain up to 30W output power. The low-side gate driver is configured to drive a low on-resistance horizontal MOSFET or IGBT with a maximum load current of 2A. It also offers adjustable overvoltage, undervoltage, and current-limit protection, which makes it suitable for power-protective designs.
The core of the FAN7392N Gate Drivers is the gate drive circuitry, which sets the working level of the device. The high-side gate drive uses an adjustable pulse width modulation (PWM) current-source topology, and features an adjustable high-side switch turn-off delay. This adjustable delay helps to ensure the appropriate gate drive current transition times are reached before the shutdown of the switch. In addition, the FAN7392N includes a high side output drive short-circuit protection feature, which prevents any current overload caused by short-circuits between the gate drive outputs.
The low-side gate driver also uses a PWM-based current-source topology and includes a low-side output drive short-circuit protection feature, which is similar to that of the high-side gate drive. The low-side gate driver is designed to provide the necessary fault current protection and to sustain the low-side gate drive current load for up to 5A for a single MOSFET or up to 10A for a series of MOSFETs. The device also offers adjustable overvoltage, undervoltage, and current-limit protection, which makes it suitable for any application requiring automated power management.
The FAN7392N Gate Drivers combine two separate functions into one package – high-side and low-side gate drives. This offers several advantages that are beneficial in many applications: improved signal integrity and signal fidelity, independence of the high side and low side gate drive signal paths, optimized signal drive signal characteristics between the high side and low side gates, improved signal trace routing, improved overall power dissipation, and low standby power requirements.
In addition, FAN7392N Gate Drivers can be used in combination with a variety of other devices, including DC-DC converters, controllers, motor drivers, timers, and voltage-frequency converters.
