HIP6604BCRZ-T Application Field and Working Principle

This component can also you high efficiency by sensing the current from low side MOSFETs, and Autonomous Duty Cycle Control adds even more features.

Furthermore, its embedded power quality engine can detect idle state patterns to reduce switch current ripple and number of switching cycles. With the powerful diagnostics in the device, users can have time for proactive troubleshooting and avoiding any data loss or damage to the system before any system degradation occurs.

Working Principle

The HIP6604BCRZ-T uses an advanced average current mode technique with an automatic phase shedding and duty cycle control to regulate the outputs. This is reflected through its "delta R-sense" technique, which eliminates the inductor sense resistor and improves power efficiency in comparison to traditional switching regulators.

This improving regulation ability and efficiency feature is driven by the voltages at the LS and HS of the switching FETs. With the help of the "active gate current control" that measures the current flowing in and out of the gate, HIP6604BCRZ-T can easily limit the current flowing through the gate and thus head off thermal runaway.

In addition, its internal sensing of low side MOSFET currents also reduce the need for external current sensing lines, and its integrated clock generator minimizes external clock components. All these features makes for a very efficient and simplified topology circuit.
