HMC674LC3C is a high-performance, high dynamic range and low noise amplifier. Its main application fields are in audio, video engineering, frequency synthesizer, RF and microwave low noise amplifier and so on. In addition, HMC674LC3C is also used in linear-comparator applications, including amplifier, comparator, negative feedback and clock synchronization etc. The working principle of HMC674LC3C can be categorized in three parts: input stage, output stage and distortion cancellation stage. The input stage is composed of voltage variable capacitor VC and two input buffers. The variable capacitor is used to achieve voltage control of the amplifier gain, and the two input buffers provide the differential input signal with low noise input impedance and low distortion. The output stage is composed of four small-signal transistors and two high voltage transistors. The four small-signal transistors are connected in parallel and together with two large sink transistors, provide dynamic range and improved linearity, reducing the harmonic distortion of the amplifier.The final stage of the HMC674LC3C is the distortion cancellation stage, which consists of a single transistor and two filters to cancel the distortion caused by the nonlinear of the amplifier. The cancellation structure uses a fixed cancellation point to effectively minimize the amplifier distortion and improve the output quality. In applications with linear-comparators, HMC674LC3C provides excellent performance. All of the three stages of HMC674LC3C work together to provide high gain, low noise, and low distortion for any application. It can be used as an amplifier for digital signal, as a negative feedback circuit for linear-comparator applications, and as a clock synchronization circuit etc. Moreover, the low output impedance and inexistent noise of the HMC674LC3C also makes it a great choice for use in high-precision linear-comparator applications.
