The ISL6721AV-T is a fully integrated monolithic power management IC (PMIC) designed to provide multiple output power rails while consuming very low quiescent current. This unique device integrates a high performance dual output voltage regulator, which combines a buck and a boost converter, with a low dropout (LDO) linear regulator.

The ISL6721AV-T uses the latest ultra-low quiescent current control technologies in order to provide the lowest possible power consumption while maintaining the highest levels of power regulation. Its dual buck regulator topology allows the user to individually program both the output voltage and the current limit threshold for each regulator.

Working Principle:

The ISL6721AV-T consists of integrated dual buck regulators, combined with low dropout (LDO) linear regulator. Each of the buck regulators consists of an on-chip transconductance error amplifier that sets the output voltage, an on-chip PWM controller that monitors the output voltage and current by sensing the inductor current ripple, three gate drivers capable of driving MOSFETs up to 7A in a 67A package, and an external output voltage divider such as resistors. The buck regulator includes a power good signal reporting the voltage regulation status of the buck regulator.

The LDOs employ a low power, low noise, low dropout voltage regulator topology with a precision reference. It also includes protection features, such as over-current protection and reverse current protection.
