ISL6740IV-T is a fully integrated, high-efficiency step-down power converter controller with integrated synchronous buck output MOSFETs. It offers 2.5A of continuous output current capability with excellent line and load regulation.The buck controller is designed to operate in step-down / buck regulation mode with an internal 400 kHz fixed frequency. Efficiency is further optimized through the unique flexible Pulse Frequency Modulation(PFM/PWM) mode selection and continuous Power Tracking™ feature.

The working principle of ISL6740IV-T is based on Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). The converter stores its input voltage in a capacitor network and then a PWM control loop uses the stored voltage to control the output voltage. The PWM loop compares the output voltage to the desired voltage setpoint and adjusts the duty cycle of the output switch accordingly. This ensures that the output voltage remains constant over varying loads and line conditions.

The ISL6740IV-T can also be configured for Constant Current (CC) / Constant Voltage (CV) mode operation.
