At the same time, the minority carriers in the material of the diode are attracted by the majority carriers, but since they do not have the same energy, they are pushed away from the majority carriers, and thus are prevented from flowing forward. These are known as “Minority carriers”. This is what creates the rectification effect in the diode, as well as providing it with the ability to regulate currents and voltages.
