LIS2DETR application field and working principleAn accelerometer is an electromechanical device that measures acceleration in a particular direction or in multiple directions. The LIS2DETR is one type of accelerometer that can be used in a variety of applications, including aerospace, automotive, motor control, gaming and sports, and consumer electronics. The device is ideally suited for activities such as acceleration sensing, vibration sensing, tilt detection, orientation sensing, gesture sensing, and dynamic activity recognition.The LIS2DETR is an ultra-low-power 3-axis digital output MEMS accelerometer. Featuring two built-in power modes, the device can operate either in continuous mode or triggered mode. The continuous mode operates a 7-bit resolution, while the triggered mode features a 12-bit resolution. This allows the device to detect a wide range of dynamic movements that occur in everyday activity.The LIS2DETR uses a dynamic multi-axis sensing technology and incorporates a dual core microcontroller, a linear acceleration data-acquisition system, and a developed Boost architecture. Its CoreSense technology takes advantage of the full range of digital signal processing (DSP) capabilities, resulting in a low-power solution that helps conserve battery life.The device has a single-chip architecture with embedded flash memory that features both 8Kbytes of instruction RAM and 8KBytes of data RAM. The device includes native power management features, which helps reduce power consumption while in motion. The device can operate from a wide range of voltages, ranging from 1.8V to 3.6V.The LIS2DETR features a highly sensitive & low-noise signal processing, with an automatic and adaptive threshold setting. An advanced signal filter detects and eliminates motion and vibration-induced noise to ensure reliable operation. This makes the device both accurate and robust when used for motion detection.The MEMS accelerometer utilizes a highly sensitive analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to convert the analog motion signals into digital outputs that can be used to control a variety of applications. The device’s software library is intuitive and straight forward to program, making integration into an application fast and simple.The LIS2DETR is an extremely efficient accelerometer, and is capable of detecting and tracking fast motion and vibration with low-power consumption.
