The LIS2L02AS4-TR is an exceptionally low-power two-axis accelerometer from STMicroelectronics. This accelerometer is specifically designed to measure two-axis linear motion for consumer, industrial, and automotive applications. It features STMicroelectronics\' innovative ultra-low-power “Always-On” technology, which allows it to monitor linear motion dynamics while consuming ultra-low power.
The LIS2L02AS4-TR is among STMicroelectronics’ Motion MEMS family of motion sensing products and is classified as an Accelerometer. It is one of the many 2-axis accelerometers in STMicroelectronics’ support portfolio.
The LIS2L02AS4-TR was designed to detect motion signals both in dynamic and static environments. It can detect motion at full scale of ±16 g with continuous wake and Sleep modes to reduce the power consumption of the device. The LIS2L02AS4-TR is integrated with a temperature sensor to measure and manage the thermal profiles of the system.
The accelerometer utilizes a micro-machined inertial measurement unit (IMU), which is composed of a ceramic mass spring system and is isolated from the environment by MEMS technology. The silicon-based MEMS technology acts as a suspension support, enabling the motion-activated ceramic mass to sense its surrounding inertial forces. The LIS2L02AS4-TR is also equipped with a built-in signal conditioning module. The signal processing incorporates a 4th order low-pass filter, and a band-pass filter for gravity vector extraction, as well as a ±12-bit digital-to-analog converter for outputs.
Applications for the LIS2L02AS4-TR accelerometer include mobile device motion control, gaming controllers, automotive safety and comfort features, athletic performance sensing, and portable medical sensors.
