MAP6KE75A belongs to the class of TVS – Diodes and a prominent example of such protection circuits. It provides protection from transients or bursts of high voltage that can be caused either by electrostatic discharges (ESD) in the environment, load switch and motor turn-on events in the circuit, or lightning events. It is designed to protect electronic devices downstream from over-voltage events caused by these transients.Generally, these devices are installed in-line between the power supply and the load and is capable of dissipating energy higher than the normal operating voltage which is an average of 400W with a peak pulse power of greater than 5.5kW. It is also capable of handling current between 10 A to 800 A. The maximum peak pulse current is between 17.2 A and 138 A. The 600 W average power dissipation at full rated voltage can handle up to 20 ns for a single half-sine pulse.MAP6KE75A is usually handled in 0603 footprint SMG packages. This device has a highly stable control and its peak pulse current are very consistent at different temperatures and happenings. It is capable of working in different temperatures ranging from - 55℃ to 150℃.The working principle of MAP6KE75A is quite simple. It relies on a low voltage configuration with two diodes that are connected in series with each other. When the applied voltage exceeds the maximum rated voltage or goes above the breakdown voltage, the two diodes become forward biased, pulling the voltage down and limiting the current flow across the circuit. Additionally, the two diodes also help to increase the tolerance to voltage spikes.When a transient or a burst of high voltage occurs, the voltage will increase and the MAP6KE75A device will become forward biased, pulling down the voltage and limiting the current. The device will then reduce the voltage back to a safe level, preventing any damage to the circuit or the load.The MAP6KE75A has various application fields and is widely used for ESD protection, surge protection, over-voltage protection, and load switch protection. It can be used in many different areas such as consumer electronics, medical and industrial applications, automotive, audio-visuals, and home appliances.
