Interface - Analog Switches, Multiplexers and Demultiplexers are all components required to effectively transfer signals between devices. In the digital world, MAX392EUE+ are devices that are used to route analog signals to their intended destination. In more technical terms, they are analog switches, multiplexers and demultiplexers.

Analog switches are a type of electromechanical component that are used to direct analog signals from one point to another using mechanical action. Analog switches can be digital or analog in nature, depending on the application. Generally, digital switches are used in applications requiring high speed switching and loads that require more power than digital applications. The MAX392EUE+ device is a multiplexer/demultiplexer combination device with a single-pole eight-throw analog switch. It is designed to operate from a wide range of 5V to 18V supply voltage and features five state-of-the-art monolithic switches in a 14-pin dual in-line package. It provides dynamic on-off characteristics, fast turnon/turnoff times (1.2/2.2µs typ.), low dynamic power dissipation and low voltage drops.

The switch consists of an array of five paths, each path has two terminals and can be used for providing connection to one of two possible signal points. These two points can be two voltage sources, two resistors or two other types of analog components of similar type. The switches are controlled by a common control line and each of the five switches can be individually addressed.

The MAX392EUE+ also supports a wide variety or burst and pulse rate timing. These depend on the supply voltage and the input control voltage, but generally range from 10-500kHz, 1-20kHz and 0.01 - 1kHz. The 50kHz setup time ensures that the switch, whenever it is switched, will be in the correct state with minimal distortion of the input signal.

In order to minimize the power dissipation of the device, the input and output current is usually limited. The MAX392EUE+ is designed using CMOS technology and is specially optimized to provide low power consumption. The device can be configured to draw as low as 65µA of current.

Aside from these features, the MAX392EUE+ also features an open collector or pull-up configuration that allows one or two connections to be used for the control line depending on the application. In addition, the device uses internal logic to prevent shorting of loads, which prevents damage to the application and allows the MAX392EUE+ to be used in multiplexer/demultiplexer applications.

The MAX392EUE+ is an excellent solution for a wide variety of analog switch, multiplexer, and demultiplexer applications.
