Working Principle

The MAX399ESE consists of two differential-input, single-output analog switches; one single-input, differential-output multiplexer; and one differential-input, single-output demultiplexer. The analog switches are designed to have a low on-resistance of 0.03 Ω (0.07 Ω max) with excellent break-before-make switching performance. This ensures minimal signal distortion and allows the circuit to switch signals with fast rise and fall times. The on-resistance and off-capacitance are also matched between channels to ensure very low static and dynamic power dissipation.

The multiplexer and demultiplexer are designed to operate with a wide dynamic range and low distortion over a broad frequency range (dc to 1MHz for the multiplexer and dc to 500kHz for the demultiplexer). The multiplexer can be used to select one of two signals for the differential output, while the demultiplexer can be used to select one of two output signals from the differential inputs. Both circuit blocks utilize an internal charge pump to generate the required voltages.
