MAX5048BATT+T is an automotive qualified universal logic gate driver with level translators, ideally suited for driving dual or single IGBT or MOSFET stages. It is designed for low EMI, low dynamic load current and providing protection features against short-circuit, overcurrent and high temperature.Contrary to other gate driver(s) the MAX5048BATT+T is an inherently safe device in the case of an output short circuit failure. The MAX5048BATT+T can easily be used in a wide range of automotive applications with various topologies and power switching requirements. It is a highly efficient, low-cost solution mainly used in automotive Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) Gate Drives.
The MAX5048BATT+T integrates all the essential features for automotive protected level translation. It has a typical output voltage of -200V/-500V (positive side) and -300V/-600V (negative side). It requires a low-voltage supply input of 5V and is compatible with 6V the PMICs. The device is capable of operating up to a frequency of 5MHz. It is available in a 5mm x 5mm QFN package and is qualified for automotive temperature grade up to 150C.
The MAX5048BATT+T can be used as a single side DMOS Gate Driver (GDD) or two side DMOS Gate Driver with insulation in order to meet the requirements of the application. This can be achieved by using the integrated voltage booster of the MAX5048BATT+T. The device is designed with CMOS logic and is compatible with various logic families like TTL, LVTTL, LVCMOS and the popular open drain I2C. It also has a built-in high-side overcurrent protection circuit types, a fault monitor circuit and an UNDER-voltage lock out (UVLO) circuit.
The MAX5048BATT+T has an advanced feature set which includes an active clamping and a floating output which makes it ideal for applications requiring both level shifting and level translation. It has an optional open-loop differential mode output current limitation feature and a soft-start feature which prevents output over-current during initial power-up. The device also includes an adjustable slew rate control function, a built-in temperature sensor, a programmable switch and a low-impedance output.
