The MCP87022T-U/MF is a single N-channel, enhancement-mode power field effect transistor (FET) and is the latest in a series of high-efficiency switches from Microchip Technology. This field effect transistor is specifically designed for maximum performance in Mobile & Portable Power Solutions (MPPC) and other applications that require very low RDS(ON). The MCP87022T-U/MF offers class-leading RDS(ON) at a very competitive cost which helps to save power, extend battery life and reduce system costs. It is also ideal for Designer Friendly Product Co-Design with System Solutions.
MCP87022T-U/MF FETs are specially designed to reduce conduction losses and reduce the power used by mobile devices. This device features a 10V to 28V operating voltage range, a low 45mΩ RDS(ON) @4.5V, and an industry-leading on-resistance variation over temperature (typ. -25mΩ @70°C). Furthermore, the device offers peak current capability of up to 20A, low gate charge (typ. 10nC), high load current capability up to 20A, excellent thermal resistance, and superb ESD performance up to 4kV. It also has low gate-source leakage, is RoHS-compliant and has a maximum operating temperature of +175°C.
The MCP87022T-U/MF is designed to be used in different types of applications and is compatible with a wide variety of switching applications in both portable and stationary applications. In portable applications, its low RDS(ON) and low parasitic capacitance make it ideal for switching power efficiency applications such as DC/DC converters, AC/DC power supplies and USB power chargers. It is also suitable for audio and video power adapters, pre-stage audio amplifiers, and RF/microwave power switches.
In stationary applications, the MCP87022T-U/MF can be used in industrial automation, motor control, and lighting control (ballast) systems. It is also suitable for lighting power supply systems and can be used to implement dimmer controls and lighting switches.
