Introduction

RS1DL RVG, also called Reverse Voltage Guard (RVGa), is a semiconductor device used in the anode circuit of the a-Si material based transistor structures. It works by creating an electrical field of an appropriate level, which is advantageous in many electrical applications. The RS1DL device is a reverse voltage guard diode; however, its application field and working principle have often been misunderstood.

Application Field

The application field of RS1DL RVG devices can be divided into three different main groups: low-voltage, medium-voltage and high-voltage applications. Low-voltage applications, such as television and communication systems, require small current loads and relatively low applied voltages. Medium-voltage applications are generally limited to solar cell applications, small motor drives, and other large current applications needing higher reliable voltage. Finally, high-voltage applications such as automotive and industrial controllers and power supplies require large currents and high applied voltages.RS1DL RVG devices are used in all of these application fields in order to provide high-reliability protection against reverse voltages (RV). RV is a common problem in many electronic circuits, and RS1DL RVG devices are designed to effectively protect circuit components and circuits from reverse voltages up to 600V.

Working Principle

Reverse Voltage Guard (RVGa) devices such as the RS1DL RVG work by creating an electrical field of an appropriate level. This electrical field is beneficial in man different types of applications, because it provides protection against reverse voltages, or RV.The operating principle of a RVGa device is relatively simple. The device is placed between the power supply and the power load, with the anode connected to the power load and the cathode to the power supply. The device contains a zener diode, which is used to convert the high voltage of the power supply into a lower voltage that is safe to use. The device also has a diode-like transistor, which is used to protect the RVGa device itself.When the power supply voltage is higher than the protection voltage of the device, the zener diode will start to conduct and the current will flow through the device, protecting the power load from the high voltage. When the power supply voltage is lower than the protection voltage of the device, the transistor will act as a diode and stop the current flow, protecting the device itself from overloading.
