SI4210-EVB is a highly sophisticated and advanced evaluation board. It is designed for evaluating and developing the performance of the SI4210 RF transceiver IC. It provides a direct access to the point-to-point connection of different radio towers. This board is equipped with an RF transceiver IC, a power amplifier and a balun in order to get high speed and low power operation.
Application Field and Working Principle
SI4210-EVB works with the SI4210 radio transceiver IC. This radio IC offers a simple and cost-effective solution for direct point-to-point connection of radio towers. The primary use of the SI4210-EVB board is in the field of terrestrial point-to-point radio connections. It can be used in Amateur Radio operations, government plants and military communication systems. It is also used in navigational beacons, telemetry systems and Wi-Fi applications.
The SI4210 radio IC functions as an RF transmitter, receiver and switch in one. The IC operates in two frequency bands, 5VX and 27MHz. As a transmitter, the SI4210-EVB is designed for use with up to 500 mW of input power at both frequency bands. As a receiver, the SI4210-EVB can be used to receive signals from up to 5 km away. As a switch, the board can be used to switch between different radio frequencies.
The SI4210-EVB operates with two external power sources. The main power supply is provided by a lithium-ion battery. The secondary power is supplied by the AC mains. The power amplifier on the board is designed to increase the level of the RF signals. The balun on the board is used to match the input impedance of the antenna with the output impedance of the transmitter.
The SI4210-EVB is designed to make the connection between two points more reliable by decreasing the effects of metal interference.
