The TJA1043TKJ is a bus transceiver device that has been designed to interface between a controller area network (CAN) bus system and a microcontroller. It is specifically optimised for applications requiring a low power consumption and fast switching time, as well as applications with long cable systems. The TJA1043TKJ has two operation modes – Normal and Standby. In Normal mode, the device is active and can transmit and receive data at full-rate across the CAN bus. The transition between Normal mode and Standby mode is done via a pin on the device, allowing for very low idling power consumption. In Standby mode, the device is in a reduced power state, transmitting and receiving can packets only in response to an explicit request from the microcontroller. This feature provides greater control and flexibility over the power consumption of the system.
The TJA1043TKJ also incorporates an integrated loop-back mode which allows for the device to be self-tested for proper operation and troubleshooting without the need for external test equipment. This is kept in low power mode, thereby conserving energy. In addition, the device has integrated electrostatic discharge protection, providing superior EMC performance.
The TJA1043TKJ is a differential bus transceiver which works by converting digital signals between the controller area network (CAN) bus and the microcontroller. It acts as a bridge between the two, allowing signals to travel between them. The device features a selectable data rate of up to 1 megabit per second, allowing for high-speed applications.
