TPS2456ARHHR’s working principle is based on the concept of ideal diode control. When the voltage across the power paths is less than a pre-determined threshold, the input current flows via a MOSFET which is turned on. When the voltage exceeds the pre-determined threshold, the MOSFET is turned off by disconnecting the circuit from the rest of the system. This prevents over-current or short circuit protection. As the TPS2456ARHHR provides ideal diode control, it also helps in providing a maximum 3.2A over-current protection.

The TPS2456ARHHR offers adjustable insertion thresholds which range from 5.5V to 7.5V and adjustable trip thresholds from 6.5V to 8.5V along with a delay time ranging from 25msec to 375msec. It also features inrush current limit and adjustable soft start current slew rate. With these features, TPS2456ARHHR can be used with different payloads of different voltage levels.

The TPS2456ARHHR also offers an auto-restart feature, which automatically restart the circuit after an over-current event, eliminating the hassle of manual intervention. This ensures that the device can quickly recover from faults, thus reducing system down-time.

TPS2456ARHHR supports a wide range of operating temperature from -20ºC to 125ºC and provides a wide voltage range from 4.8V to 14V. It also supports low power control interface for fast enable/disable time of 2µs and digital fault diagnostics enable/disable control. All these features make the TPS2456ARHHR a versatile Hot Swap controller for consumer, communications and industrial applications.
