The TPS2817DBVTG4 is a PMIC—Gate Drivers, which is mainly used for low side driver applications. It is a 4-channel non-inverting gate driver that can drive two high-side and two low-side Mosfets. Working Principle

The TPS2817DBVTG4 consists of four independent high-side and low-side gate drivers, each with its own internal clock input. The common mode gates are biased to an operating voltage of between 13 V and 17 V, while the output stage can swing between 3.2 V and 24 V. The high-side driver consists of a N-channel driver, while the low-side driver consists of a P-channel driver. The device also integrates a dedicated logic circuit to detect currents changes caused by motor brake applications.

The device provides two separate FLAG pins that are open-drain outputs and can be used to signal an over-current or under-voltage fault condition. In case of either of the two conditions, the FLAG pins will turn to high impedance and the outputs of the device will go to a low state and remain in the low state until the fault condition is cleared. Moreover, the device can be operated in PWM mode and the current-limit threshold can be adjusted to avoid overcurrent conditions.

The TPS2817DBVTG4 is also capable of dissipating up to 0.2 W of power at an operating temperature of 85°C. It is also protected from ESD, RF and latch-up currents, an essential factor for automotive applications.
