TSM1011IDT is a stand-alone, low-power, dual-mode battery charger IC designed for charging single cell lithium-ion (Li-Ion)/lithium-ion polymer (Li- Polymer) batteries. The TSM1011IDT is typically used in portable applications such as cellular telephones, PDAs, digital cameras, MP3 players, and other battery-powered devices. The TSM1011IDT is optimized to operate as a primary battery charger in trickle mode, with constant current and constant-voltage outputs while delivering maximum charge current of 400 mA. The TSM1011IDT also acts as a secondary charger in pre-charge mode, where the voltage between the BAT and GND pins is monitored and the charger enters a constant-current mode when the battery voltage surpasses the pre-charge threshold without the need for an external power source.The TSM1011IDT integrates an integrated charging timer and overcharge protect circuit, which is triggered when the voltage between the BAT and GND pins rises above a specific point. When the preset time has elapsed, the charger terminates the charging cycle and enters a low-current standby mode, thereby reducing the amount of power consumption.The TSM1011IDT also provides dynamic power and thermal management features, including automatic power-off detection, allowing the device to be used in applications with limited power availability. The TSM1011IDT implements a power control system to monitor current, voltage and temperature to prevent excessive discharge. In the event the temperature or current exceeds the preset value, the device automatically shuts down and stops charging.
